They like our yard, too. We also had one one summer with a bum leg. No doubt survived a collision with a car. When startled, they'll dash across the street regardless of the traffic.

In my opinion, there's no contest - 413F. Comfort handle, secure wind baffle clips, towel rack/fold back lid, easy-service grate hinges, adjustable legs (although I have yet to camp in a site lacking shims).

I wouldn't paint the rings. Even if they need to be de-rusted again in 10 or 15 years, it's not hard to do. If the stoves get used, the rings will be fine, in my opinion.

I use a heaping tablespoon per gallon of hot water from the tap, that is, I don't heat the water on the stove. I don't let brass sit for more than 15 minutes. I'll leave steel in for way longer.

Can you get a bore scope down the filler hole and have a look from below? This has been very educational on some of the problem founts I've been working on. I tried, but the filler hole is too close to the feed hole to allow enough wiggle room to get a focus. Good suggestion, though. I'll try again...

I had a research project in a -40 lab one time. I'd spend maybe 10 minutes at a time in the lab setting up or taking data. That was plenty. It's hard to imagine living in an area where that cold hits you every time you step outside.

I'm working on a Marswells No. 2 Cold Blast. I can't pop the burner off. I've soaked in Blaster and tried to pry it off at arrows, but doesn't want to come off. I don't see anything preventing it from coming off, but it sure doesn't want to pop off. Am I missing something? Thanks.

The Guide to Vintage Coleman Products says, "Date stamping on bottom of the fount with one digit for the year on the left and one or two digits on the right for the month (very occasionally reversed on this model)." I'm sure that clears it up for you, lol!

Okay, thanks. I was afraid that was the case. I have the setup in the open bay of an unheated shed. We've been above freezing here for some time, but nighttime temperatures now are supposed to dip into the teens. Too cold to leave it out.
