Well, I've tried every suggestion offered except the extraction tool. I give up. I'll take the problem to the Lewiston gathering in May and see if we can take care of it there. Anyhow, thanks to all of you who helped.

Yes, molasses works, but as noted above, it's slow. I agree with Ridge Runner - hot citric acid. It's cheap, faster than molasses, safe, and clear enough that you can more easily inspect the fount to asses your progress than would be possible with molasses.

The fuel cap looks a little odd for this stove. What type is that? The fuel cap is the one with a tire valve from OCP. I use it when I'm pressure testing founts with a tire gauge. Check and see if the same thing happens when you have the fuel lever in the down/light position. Have you disassembled this stove to replace the Schrader valve core? Having the fuel lever in the down/light position is exactly what I did on the 40+ degree day when I followed the lighting instruction...
