I would place a WTB in the classifieds. I'm betting someone here has one. Is the generator body messed up? Just the flare? Might be able to save it?

Re: Single mantle vs double
Singles are way easier to work on than doubles. If you've got a double and need to tear it down, it's a 2 person job, or you must have a lantern vice. Wondering why they are a 2 person job? I've FFR'd a lot of Coleman double mantles of all models with just a crescent wrench and small bench vise. Ti...

Re: Single mantle vs double
Wondering why they are a 2 person job? Getting the tip cleaner out requires the fount to be held stationary somehow...be that with a fount clamp/vise or another person holding it. I can't loosen the tip cleaner and hold the fount at the same time. After that it's a simple matter of clamping the val...

Re: Last years of Coleman quality?
So, the verdict is, late '40s through the '80s... :) I'm going to go as far back as 1927... The changeover from fiber to Bakelite valve wheels 😉... Cheapskates... 😁 For lanterns I would say 1950. No more brass founts after that point. Seems the war effort helped them along more than likely. Still a...

Straight forward question. If you could only keep one lantern, and you couldn't sell it, which one would you keep for reliability, efficiency, aesthetics, and just plain, "I like it best for what I need it to do." Scott, Larry's link you provided is the most in depth thread I had read on them. I often wondered about the air o collars myself, Altho Coleman used them for other companies as well after the air o had changed to the Quicklite collar.

Looking good Kelly! Those F/A tubes are very picky on their orfice size. Too small and you get not enough fuel and lose air pressure... Too large and you get no air on startup and basically have a Quicklite... I have had good luck with using the prickers to clean them in the past, even a fine pointe...
