Dominic I built mine for my father to put in the hunting cabin so I asked him how tall he wanted it... He held his hand up so high and that's what I built it too 😁 tape measure says 60" from the base of the fount to the top of the valve wheel.

In my experience a check ball style check valve does not operate correctly saturated in fuel like a pip or o-ring nrv.

The issue is when I try to turn the fuel knob back to closed after it's been opened all the way, it just crams the generator tip cleaner in the generator tube and bends it. Are you working on a 275 or 275A? They differ in the operation of the eccentric.

I realize the majority of this lantern is an Akron 134 or some variant, but the valve/burner setup does not belong. Anyone recognize it? It reminds me of AGM, but I have no experience with AGM double mantles. I did the minimum to get this one running. Actually instant lights and runs good! I soldere...

I believe Steve is talking about the pricker rod itself, not the lever?

None of the 4 I've worked on had them Steve. Here's one I messed with last year sometime that had a broken pricker rod.

My opinion the fiber tube is there as both a filler and a filter. They do their job well, but there are many other options I've found that work well. There's two pressures at play when a lantern is in operation. The pressure in the fount and the pressure the vaporizing fuel in the generator crates. ...

Are you sure they're mice and not voles? Look similar and can get indoors(altho not real common) but I've never caught one in a trap... I had to use poison oats to get rid of a bunch that were eating my wife's flowers of all things...

Both have keyed bails, BUT one of em is a mongrel, has a 228D collar, who knows what else has been messed with. If the bails are swedged on the upper side only (what I call keyed) those were only found on 1930 models. Here's an example I had to rebuild using a tack weld with a little file work. htt...

Does moving the gen out of the mixing chamber a tad make any difference? Obviously this is a risky test. Make sure not to pull the gen too far outward.

Okay it's been awhile since I've worked on one of these, but I seem to recall seeing an air restrictor on the auxillary burner... Possible it could've been swapped from side to side? I may be thinking something else 🤔

Quick question....I have two B's and don't see a date on em.......one is marked "220B" on the bottom, the other is not. Where do you see date? Keith date will be on the bottom. They are often filled in with plating and can be tough to see. If it has the 220B stamp on the bottom it'll be early 30-34...

I had a 242A do this to me awhile back and I swore I remembered tightening it. But I tightened it anyhow and after running about 30 minutes it loosened again... Those decals started in 42 on the B models and run through the C line. The D models would use a different decal early on.
