Dominic, I had it pegged as modern even though you have mentioned how thin it is at least twice. I dragged out my Veritas 1933 catalog reprint. This is a European catalog so descriptions may differ Vs if found in a US catalog. The catalog describes this shade as LARGE VESTA For Suspension Lamps. In...

Well I got it. It sure looks nice and the heat hasn't blown it up. It has an interesting rolled edge on the top. It's thin, and about 11 1/4 inches at the bottom and 12 or so at the bulge. I will be testing this shade for size tomorrow. I think its old and is very thin glass.

Took a road trip to see my daughter in tucson for Thanksgiving. Gave her a Christmas present. 16 tons of rock and gravel. Took three days with a wheel barrow but it's done.

Older designs will out last me. With very little maintenance lot added parts.

Newer models last as long as an O ring. :D

Timm makes a good point regarding the fire bricks. I have found that stuff tends to burn on the bottom in these ovens. I wounded if a pizza stone on the rack just under the baking pan would be the best. Seems a pizza stone at the bottom of the oven would also provide insulation?

I ordered a 12 x 12 piece of stainless mesh from Amazon. Use a harbor frieght punch.
I don't remember the size of screen but #20 may be right.
