A Hearse has other uses, always thought hippies were strange for favoring them. But, it turns out a band on a shoestring budget they work well, the floor height and cargo capacity is excellent for loading and unloading electric guitar amplifiers and drum kits and such.

They are conservatively rated temperature wise, and synthetic insulation means laundering is easy, just pop them in the washer. I think they are a good value. They are more bulky on average than some but when car camping it doesn't really matter too much. Loft is loft, that's what provides warmth.

Was up north recently, where folks use a lot of ATV's, recreational vehicles of all kinds, the premium pump at one station was marked "REC GAS", 90 octane, $4.39/gal. Gotta love how they put less stuff in the gas and then charge more for it. :shock: Isn't that really the story of Coleman Fuel itself?

Good question. My guess, and it's only a guess, is they would be very similar if not identical. Where a propane lantern would get the nod in my opinion, a gasoline lantern at least has the potential for flare ups and real Unpleasantness inside a tent.
