+1 The bondo glazing putty is the way to go , no mixing needed with that stuff. Spread on thin coat and as smooth as you can with plastic scraper.

I think TwoCanoes is on the right track thinking something is amiss with mixing chamber hole. Can try making opening smaller with some tin foil and see if it get worse. enlarging the hole is a one way street. By swapping out founts the only thing left is the manifold/chamber . That is the carburetor...

After doing a bit more looking around it seems the small size case may have the same grate as earlier 412's - 417's . Have 412B and will see if it has same grate.
EDIT- Rob/OCP said parts diagram show 425B & 425C same grate. I found 417B & 415D same grate

Wife uses them inside on everything. They have wands that come in adjustable lengths which work very well. Convenient to use and can swiffer your wallet also.

Mike, Maybe you know, there is a separate kerosene generator for them also. It has the V notches in the flair attachment nut.

Have not cooked on it yet, still barn fresh. Will remove the pre shaped original foil pans and replace with regular foil when I do. Looks like it will need to be cleaned after each use like any stove. Grill plates come out and can be cleaned. PO did a good job on the cleaning ,Thank you.

Great light weight pans that do heat up VERY fast. Fun to flip food in too. You can season right over the burner of your camp stove. Will see the area over flame blacken right away. What you want is the shine back. You may never know what happened to your vent in the past really not important. Might try some polishing compound to restore shine. Nothing to lose and you will know real quick if compound will restore shine.

Good stove once you get it going. Wrap leather around both knurled sections of pump tube to get them apart, might try a little heat also if needed. Too much squeezing can squash them out of round. Bare pliers on the soft brass will dick them up. Need the PIP to seal 100% and there is a gasket inside...
