Re: Postal Issues….

For years now they have been trying to eliminate Saturday delivery to save money. For some reason I can’t comprehend attempts to make it happen keep getting squashed. Most are probably aware already but the USPS is supposed to support itself with no federal subsidies. Dont forget, one of the bigges...

Declining first class mail volumes + aging union work force + lack of accountability + virtually impossible to fire anyone for poor performance + mostly indifferent customer-facing personnel = recipe for indiferent service. Dont forget there has been blatant sabotage and SERIOUS efforts & policies ...

Re: Electrolysis issue... check my thinking...

Also, electrolysis has a "line-of-sight" component. So, turning/adjusting position of the workpiece thru the process may be needed, to get good, consistent results across its whole surface.

Dont forget, old brake rotors make excellent anodes, for laying in the bottom of tanks & buckets ;)

Re: Electrolysis issue... check my thinking...

The power required varies with your work piece. <snipped> ^^This. Many people dont realise that with electrolysis, you never really have a constant, "static" voltage and amperage. You actually have a constantly "variable" voltage & amperage, going on thru the whole process. This is because resistan...

Re: Electrolysis issue... check my thinking...

Sounds like you've just about covered everything I would have, Lynn. I would have though tthe same, on maybe rust in the bolt/rod holes, too. I've used the Permatex silver-colored Anti-Seize for decades, when replacing bolts/nuts on all my vehicles/outside equipment. Excellent stuff. In your case, m...

Re: When was the last time you’ve been to a drive in movie?

Sorry for the following long-winded reply :P I guess I've been lucky, in that we have had a local drive-in, that has been going strong since at least the 70's. I guess they have had a great "formula" going for decades. They're quite a local hotspot. I guess its because they have such a "diverse" amo...

Thanx for the response ;)

So, speaking of decals... Anyone know when the yellow caution/instructions decals started appearing?

Re: Nailing down the collection

Maybe "prioritize" them with a code or symbol. Your highest value/"rarest"/most collectable, down to the lowest, most commonest. That way, they could at least start/concentrate on the ones that would be most sought after/easiest to sell/get the highest value. You could try ball park values, by checi...

Stone blue, Thanks for the chart. Other than minor size differences it would be great to have a chart like the one for generators. As far as that chart goes, it was originally only intended to document, & then compare any anecdotal physical differences i could detect between F/A assemblies, after I...

Yeah... I came across three different length F/A tube lengths for the "short" ones, just in this small lot that I have. The 242C was the one from my 12/48 242C, so thats (sorta) verified.

Is there a date stamped on the Bernzie stove? Probably just two-digit year, right under the patent stamp on the collar of the valve body.

@Hilton ... Some AGMs models had both steel *and* brass founts. I dont seem to recall hearing about cracing issues on the steel ones. Not as common as the brass, but worth noting to always chec, or ask, what a magnet does on the side of the fount. (Bottom plates should be steel, even on the brass on...

Idk... I was paying that for pump gas in the early-mid 90's. *However*, was CF similarly 4.3x *times* the price of a gallon of pump gas, like it is now? :P If so, it would be much earlier than early-mid 90's, maybe even mid-80's. 8-) That style of can art started sometime around '65, apparently, by ...
