I am a sucker for canvas, and these were from a scout leader estate sale. I cant get the Pop Tent to lock open when I pull the handle down. I am thinking its just because I haven't ever seen anything like these. One marked Thermos 8115, the other just says Pop Tent ind, Albert Lea, Mn.<br /><a href=...

Lol. I should have said that you invert it for a second.. Nothing will physically clean the FA without removal. When you get the FA out, stretch the spring a little also.

I to use a torch tip cleaner. When its physically cleaned there is no wondering if you got it all. sometimes they are plugged with gunk up inside the FA. That needs scrubber out. it takes a couple minutes to tear down and have running.

Just prick the tip with the pricker from another gen. all the caps leak a bit when pumping in pressure. Its probably 50 years of dust in the hole.
The model of these was whatever shade was on them. AS in Cq 307, CQ 329, etc.

Annealing a brass AGM fount

I have had 3 unfired AGM appliances from those years that were all cracked. So I doubt its from repeated use. It seems no rhyme or reason for them cracking. One can be really used up with dents, burned off enamel, and no chrome left, and no cracks.

plus 1 on using a pre-heat cup. The rapid heater just blows the new mantles apart. On the fount pressure it will run ok with less than 2 bar, but will need pumped a bit more. I always let the pressure off to extinguish. Like said above, its a mess you will only want to clean up once.

Is there some gunk in the seat? If its tight it cant leak as its a metal to metal fit, but sometimes the tip can get malformed, and needs sharpened up. some dish soap in a sparay bottle works well for spot tests.

Stiff valve wheel problem

I wonder if old fuel soaks into the packing, and makes it sticky like tar. I have had this also. Even heated and polished they seem stiff. 242s seem worse than others for some reason. I tried some thread tape rolled up and added under the nut. It helped a little, maybe because it has some lube to it.
