I would think twice before using a diamond stone. I would first try either 0000 steel wool or a high count 1500-2500 wet or dry sand paper with it wet. I think a diamond stone would be too aggressive. Brass is soft. Just my thoughts.

Carlton, with the 236/237 bails, I have even experienced some success with method I posted. The reproduction bail, not so much. I finally achieved a little success by using a file and sandpaper. It’s a larger diameter stock, but sturdy.

Although removal technique is important, I try to find out why it is binding. I usually get good results by moving bail to the binding spot and remove it there.
