If it was sitting for awhile with old fuel before you got it, it may have varnished and is sticking the rod. You could try swishing some acetone around in the tank to see if that might loosen it before tearing it down. I would go ahead and break it down anyway. Totally cleaned is a better, more perm...

Re: any way to salvage a leaking CV, not a check ball problem
Hey Tom, I've ran into that problem a couple of times. What I did was chuck the pump stem into my drill and used a fingernail file (emery board) to sand the point until the groove was eliminated. Then used Brasso to polish it smooth again. Worked very well. Edit: you have to be careful to keep the s...

Re: Painting the metal frame?
I've painted several founts with Rustoleum Professional Hunter Green with great satisfaction. I would like to clear coat them to make them more chemical resistant. I guess I'll try Rustoleum clear engine enamel next time. I have a birthday fount to paint, so I'll try it out there. If it doesn't work...

https://postlmg.cc/G46J9sb9 If your frame is pitted bad enough to where you can't get a decent look by cleaning, use Huntaholics advice. I tried it and was very pleased. Use WD40 to clean the collar. It normally won't remove the printing.
Edit: as with any cleaner though, use in an inconspicuous area first.

This is what I've used for my last five jobs. I think the color is pretty close. It goes on really smooth and even. Three to four coats provides a good finish. I let them cure for a couple weeks before using. I am careful when filling with fuel because I am not sure how fuel resistant this paint is....

Hey David. Just my opinion only. I would strip the fount and repaint. As long as it functions well, why not revive it. Stripping a fount and repainting is actually a lot easier than it sounds. Is it a green fount? I have had much faster results stripping green paint than red. Must be the difference ...

Re: Hello!
Yes it did. I filled the fount half full of Crown fuel and added some stainless steel nuts, and shook it really well of and on all day. Then dumped all the fuel, and rinsed with another half fount of clean fuel. That cleaned it up really well. Getting the last few nuts out was kind of a pain, but I ...
