Re: 237 Never Quite Runs Right
I assume you preheated it properly with a full cup of alcohol. One of my 237s kinda looks like that at first and I have to feather the valve until it the gen gets heated really well and then it runs like the usual 237 retina burner one expects. Will has a good point about the kerosene, too. I had p...

Thermos 8326 Generator
Hey folks, trying to remove the generator from this lantern. Not a problem with it, I just need to polish it up. With the jam nut unscrewed and lifted, and the cleaner handle in the up position, I can't seem to budge the bottom of the genny to remove it. The generator does spin freely in place. Is t...

Re: 275 won't light
I am depressed because I can usually fix everything. I guess I will go to the newer propane models. Sorry about what happened to your Lantern. The parts should be replaceable. I would not be discouraged by problems with a 275a. They are a relatively difficult Lantern compared with so many other Col...

Re: Seafoam color match
I know Fender guitar custom colors much better than Coleman colors. Fender used nitrocellulose automobile paint & their Seafoam Green was the same as a 56 Buick color & is available from Reranch, I’ve used their paint with great success. http://reranchstore.store.turbify.net https://barnfinds.com/w...

I was planning to re- enamel it. The lantern itself is from August 1948, and was originally green. Someone r...

Re: 275 won't light
It could be the Schrader valve for which these models are notoriously known for having problems with. It is an inexpensive fix, although it can be very difficult to get the fuel assembly off of the fountain. https://www.oldcolemanparts.com/select-your-model-here/SELECT-LANTERN-MODEL/242-thru-295/275...

Re: Overflame on 252
I have the wrench tool, but the one for this Lantern is missing the pricker. I do have a pricker tool for a 1977 Armstrong. Would this work? I was asking if you pricked with anything that wasn't the milspec pricker wrench. If you have, it's likely broached too far open and you'd need to replace the...

Re: Overflame on 252
Are the air tubes clear of obstructions? How deep in the mixing chamber is the generator placed? Air tubes were cleaned out via pipe cleaner and compressed air. One side has a plug in the bottom, if I'm not mistaken. As far as the generator, it is just seated as far and as seemed natural. I can't r...

Overflame on 252
On the 1956 252, my startup procedure is to open the fuel cap and let all pressure out, replace cap, pump five times, preheat, open valve, and light. This one always starts right up, but with a big overflame. I know that's not unusual on these milspecs, but I cannot stop the overflame on this one. I...

On the lookout: 10/64 200A
I'm keeping my eyes open for a birthday Lantern as a gift for my wife. I need one from 10/64, but prefer a 200 a rather than a 220. This does not need to be in perfect shape, as I am going to repaint with a custom color, and probably enamel the hat in black. Probably the most important aspect is tha...

Re: What can you tell me about IPE
Greg, I have used IPE, and so far been pleased with their work. Jeff Gaylord is the manager and is easy to deal with. You mail the vents to IPE and add attention to Jeff Gaylord. I put a tag on each vent listing the model number (200/220) requesting the color. The price last year was approximately ...

Coleman fuel for Zippo?
I heard or read somewhere that Zippo fuel is essentially naphtha, and, as such, a suitable substitution for it would be Coleman fuel. Does anyone hear know that to be true? Would I be able to use Coleman fuel in a Zippo lighter or hand warmer? Thank you.

A little rubbing alcohol can also remove the spray paint. A while back, I tried to remove the 'Made in China' from a modern globe. ZipStrip and other paint removers would not even budge the writing on the glass. I have not tried acid yet. My point is that if the process of screen printing the globes...
