Re: 237 Never Quite Runs Right

I assume you preheated it properly with a full cup of alcohol. One of my 237s kinda looks like that at first and I have to feather the valve until it the gen gets heated really well and then it runs like the usual 237 retina burner one expects. Will has a good point about the kerosene, too. I had p...

Thermos 8326 Generator

Hey folks, trying to remove the generator from this lantern. Not a problem with it, I just need to polish it up. With the jam nut unscrewed and lifted, and the cleaner handle in the up position, I can't seem to budge the bottom of the genny to remove it. The generator does spin freely in place. Is t...

I know Fender guitar custom colors much better than Coleman colors. It could be the Schrader valve for which these models are notoriously known for having problems with. It is an inexpensive fix, although it can be very difficult to get the fuel assembly off of the fountain. https://www.oldcolemanparts.com/select-your-model-here/SELECT-LANTERN-MODEL/242-thru-295/275...

Overflame on 252

On the 1956 252, my startup procedure is to open the fuel cap and let all pressure out, replace cap, pump five times, preheat, open valve, and light. This one always starts right up, but with a big overflame. I know that's not unusual on these milspecs, but I cannot stop the overflame on this one. I...

I heard or read somewhere that Zippo fuel is essentially naphtha, and, as such, a suitable substitution for it would be Coleman fuel. Does anyone hear know that to be true? Would I be able to use Coleman fuel in a Zippo lighter or hand warmer? Thank you.
