It could be the Schrader valve for which these models are notoriously known for having problems with. I heard or read somewhere that Zippo fuel is essentially naphtha, and, as such, a suitable substitution for it would be Coleman fuel. Does anyone hear know that to be true? Would I be able to use Coleman fuel in a Zippo lighter or hand warmer? Thank you.

There should be no screen. Coleman brand fuel has a blue tint to it, although I generally stick to Crown.

A little rubbing alcohol can also remove the spray paint. A while back, I tried to remove the 'Made in China' from a modern globe.
