I thank all of you for your help. I had saved the lye mix and put it back in for the night. Tomorrow, I will dump it and rinse. Hit with the blow dryer and start reassembling. I did pick up some Indian Head Permatex to seal the valve, a PO had spun it a full turn too far. I will give that a few days...

Looks like old fuel still to me. Steve is right. Lye would be best. Put a couple inches of water in the fount, then add your lye to that. Maybe a 1/4 cup roughly. It's a 427, so getting some lye on the outside of the fount won't hurt anything. I use about 1/4 cup of lye crystals per quart of very hot water. To speed things up, either use an ultrasonic cleaner or boil the entire fount in the lye solution. 1/2 hour should be all you need. After that, repeat yo...

The '52 200a still needs some run time. I cleaned up the U tube and I think it needs some carbon build up to get a good seal. It wants to flutter a tiny bit until it is at full temp after several minutes running. This one doesn't have the venturi, it just seats into the air tube.

I use penetrating oil and heat and take my time. I have a piece of leather to wrap around the vent stud and use channel lock pliers.

I haven't been out that way for a few years. Nice scenery for sure. If I should get out that way any time soon, I will let you know. My friends just look at me like I am crazy when I start talking about lanterns. You should be in a good area to find some oldies in the wild.
