Extra force works but at the cost (sometimes) of a knob too hard to turn. Try a circle of PTFE/Teflon cord (not pipe tape). I have found it works very well. Hard to beat those late QLs. All the modern conveniences (like the internal pump) and yet vintage ball o’ fire performance. Now put you a nice mica shade on there and a Jumbo R55 so you can easily keep the tip clean, and you’ve got one of the most versatile lanterns on the planet, IMO!
