Yes it is original to the lantern
The small clip that is attached to the base rest is the one I am talking about. The other clip I have seen before but not used to hold the chain. From what I have seen it is for a hang tag. Hope that didn’t confuse you.

Your 252 is actually a 220b dated 3/42. Not an easy date to find for 42. Someone later painted the lantern yellow and added the water slide mil spec decals and added the Aladdin conversion. The conversion was very popular with the military to do prior to the release of the 44 contract mil spec lant...

1992,93, and 95 Sportsman 288 Limited Editions and A few other 288’s that same time frame that had no writing on the globe. Just the Hunter and fisherman.

The reason I stated the above post was because the new collectors seem to use the new book as set in stone without knowing that there are errors. They quote the book as to be factual. I think that might be a 117 lamp. A 117A wouldn't have the slant feature by default. It might be good to soak the pickup tube / 'Fuel Wire'? and the tip protector or screen (part #217-144 or #117-144), whichever you have there, in lye as well. Yes it threads off. The fuel pickup tube will be underneath. Never had a problem with spinning the bung. Don’t hit it with too much heat. You might loosen the solder.

From available pics of 200A lanterns, the "Patents Pending" line on the decal was out as early as '64 and had gone away, or was going away, by 1-'71. 327K,427K, 235, 231,206, and probably a few others that I didn’t mention. Kero was more available in the northern states than down south. So it was subject of supply and demand. Never been a shortage of kerosene around here until the last 10 years or so. Wasn’t taking about the last 10 years or so....
