The resolution was fairly simply. Seems a 1" nut will fit down inside that hub and engage enough of the drive tangs that you can get it to back off. Which is great because that special tool is nowhere to be found online!!!!

Treated correctly............ they'll last a lifetime. Mantels and fuel pump cap gaskets will fail. But these were made before the concept of designed obsolescence was part of the zeitgeist.

I've had two of those over the years. And they're made by IMCO, pretty sure. I have some lighters they made that looks very similar.

Of the two I've had, I sold the prefect on on eBay because they command ridiculous money. I kept the funky one for my own collection.

I had an 8N I was responsible for at my last job. Poor ol' girl was so worn out she got to where she didn't have rings good enough to make enough vacuum to make the carburetor work. You could pull start it, but off of the starter you were wasting your time.

It's down!!!! Isn't it GREAT!?!?!?! I have a love/hate relationship with the fakebook. I do communicate with some family members over it. I was trying to talk to an aunt of mine here on the central timezone right before 11:00 and found it had crapped out. I nearly jumped for joy.

Those old 6V lantern batteries always seemed to be REALLY expensive for what you got out of them. I wonder if lithium ion batteries being what they are currently, if you could come up with a more modern battery pack that would serve you better? Cheaper (potentially), brighter and rechargeable.
