C fuel will make the generator last much longer and the lantern burn reliably with out issues compared to Kerosene
don't forget to preheat before lighting

Might just be the fuel and gen combination
Try using naphtha with the same generator or with a new one

Kerosene will clog generators very quickly and cause problems. These were gas or kerosene burners. (327k,427K , 237, 247, 249 639 ect ) I I would personally clean or replace the generator and use Coleman fuel . Also don't forget to preheat the generator the same as you would kero.
