Re: coleman 226 pressure issue
No worries, if you search for this issue, you'll find quite a few posts about it. This is why the original 222 generators are so highly coveted.

Re: coleman 226 pressure issue
When full of fuel, these do require very frequent pumping. If you can find an old 222 generator, it has a smaller jet and requires less pumping. When it has about a half a tank, it runs a bit longer

Jason
Don't even bother fixing this thing....Just send it to me for proper disposal.
But Seriously, it'll need to be brazed, silver solder will not hold up to the heat. Or spend about as much for a new Genny as you spent on the lantern...lol

Pulling a Valve Out of a Brass Fount
It's always a tense moment with an older brass fount. I have spun a bung or two in my life... Nothing a little heat and solder didn't take care of. I did however have a Kamplite fount that collapsed the top of the fount due to rust/corrosion. Just take your time and be careful.

So i got this from a member for parts, but after looking at it, I'm pretty sure it's a "Silver band". Dated 5 53 with a painted steel collar and a painted frame with small ears. You need to pull the entire valve out and clean the tube at the bottom. also, be careful straightening the generator pricker as they are made of unobtainium. I am working on a Kamplite version right now.

fettling problems, am I the problem?
One thing I've noticed when fettling lanterns is that the valve stems will sometimes begin leaking upon getting hot for the first time. I just consider that normal for me. Another little trick is to take a toothpick and poke the end of the F/A tube during cleaning. I do this now on every year down b...

Most AGM singles of that era will work with a 220 generator. You'll need to modify the pricker, but it should work. If it runs too rich, sub a tip from a 200 on the 220 generator.

I believe the guts are asbestos with a coil in the middle. If the pricier is still good, you can sub a 220 generator for the original. Just swap over the pricker to the AGM one and you should be fine.

Kwikstrip spray stripper is my go to for this. Just disassemble the lantern, spray the parts and it'll take care of the paint pretty quickly. Looks like it's nickle under the paint which is a plus. After you remove the paint, just clean and polish.
