Re: Coleman 249 vs 234

The 249 is a totally different animal than a 234, 247 & 201. 249's were designed primarily as a kero lantern. The latter 3 were gas lanterns adapted, per say, to run kero. While at first Glace the 249, 234 and 247 all look the same, they aren't. 249 tank, valve and frame are all specific to the mode...

Re: What The H***!! Cancelled eBay Order

So if you still want a 286b let me know. I can keep my eye out for one for you. Thanks Shane. I think I bought my last 2 from you a year or 2 ago. I have a few and I use them to make custom lanterns. I was going to use this one for an Air Force lantern for my son who is in boot camp at Lackland AFB.

Sorry you got pushed away on that deal, Mike. Good luck with your search. These hoses are very hard to find on their own. You normally need to find a clapped out stove or heater that has a good hose.

Thanks guys! I've got a minty 295 also, I'm thinking of doing a Kamplite custom for it. Went to an antique mall that had lost their lease due to a road widening. One vendor had 5 28x lanterns + a 237 for $5 a price and couldn't turn my back on them. So what do I do with all these... CUSTOMS!!!

When full of fuel, these do require very frequent pumping. If you can find an old 222 generator, it has a smaller jet and requires less pumping. When it has about a half a tank, it runs a bit longer

Toby, that's crazy. I've played with a few 4.7's...not a fan of the design. Gimme a 4.0 . I've been in a few of them and never seen one that "clean". Most are just caked with carbon and oil. Being so clean is why I thought this might be a joke. Is the weatherstripping at the cowl still intact?

Don't even bother fixing this thing....Just send it to me for proper disposal.

But Seriously, it'll need to be brazed, silver solder will not hold up to the heat. Or spend about as much for a new Genny as you spent on the lantern...lol

It's always a tense moment with an older brass fount. I have spun a bung or two in my life... Nothing a little heat and solder didn't take care of. I did however have a Kamplite fount that collapsed the top of the fount due to rust/corrosion. Just take your time and be careful.
