Re: Is this a suitcase stove???

When folks have accumulated too many suitcase stoves, it's an undesirable predicament. However, that one is too cute and unique to put it in an 'undesirable' category. I suspect that even folks not into propane would snatch that one up. I've no desire for another suitcase stove, but would certainly ...

Dean,

When you get a partial message, try refreshing or reloading the page to see if that helps. I've been having some anomalies lately, but usually just missing images until I refresh/reload the page. It's worth a shot.

Correct. Look under the valve wheel for a stamping on the fount. Coleman wouldn't cover that with a decal.

Levi,

You'd better first watch "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy". They won't throw you out of school, but will put the fire hoses on you outside to get rid of the stench. Although, if you take the bus to school, they may not even let you on.

Dawn is fine and is my preferred cleaner. It's strong, yet damages nothing. Just don't ever ever ever wax a vent. Too many people have reported a crazing/clouding that can't be undone. It doesn't appear when waxing, but after lighting and it heats up.

From an old thread on the issue where a groove is worn into the cone: "If the cone has a groove worn in it, you can use popsicle sticks to hold the sandpaper in place while you spin it to keep it even when sanding out the groove. You could also spin it with a drill. However, brass is soft, so don't ...

It would help if you told us what lantern you were referencing. Werner was addressing a 'newer' one with a Schrader and I'm thinking of an older lantern without a Schrader. For one without, two reasons come to mind. One is that a piece of grit or debris is in the way of the valve fully closing. The ...

If you're putting CF in the fount, as Joe (74HARLEY) stated,, CF already has rust inhibitors, so I'd skip the idea of adding an oil to it. In the meantime, if you haven't swapped out pump cups yet, you can oil that neoprene cup, flare it out, and try again. You won't visibly notice if it flared out, but often it's enough to test it. This is a temporary measure and not a substitute for a leather pump cup. Also, once you have pressure in...

I used the cheapest gas which was also what I ran in my truck. I'm thinking it was 87 octane. The lower the better for lanterns. The higher the octane, the more additives it has to slow to burn rate for an engine. GPA's aren't engines and don't need or want these additives. If there was 85 octane ar...
