Re: Alternative to IPE

I like the idea, but doubt that's feasible. For IPE to have a single point of contact for numerous vents, you would need a volunteer to handle receiving all the vents from members, shipping all the vents to IPE, then individually shipping them back to members. Ensuring you got your own vent(s) back ...

Re: OT funny but not political thread

John,

You comment reminded me of a comedian who was complaining about the heat in Arizona. Someone living there said 'but it's a dry heat'. His response was to the effect of 'so is a welding torch'.

Maybe one of the ones below will give a smile. ------------------------------------ Picked up a hitchhiker last night. He asked, “How do you know I’m not a serial killer?” I replied, ”The chances of there being two serial killers in one car is astronomical.” ------------------------------------ A gu...

Too bad they can't just close the roads or limit the number of people entering the park.

>>Can anyone recommend cement that's easy to pick off the part when separated for future cleaning? Yes, muffler cement as others have recommended, but you've dismissed it. The only time I've had it adhere where the part isn't removable without a good whack with a tool is sealing a ceramic burner cap...

This is a good thing if their kids chew on window sills or eat paint chips off the walls!

I don't generally like different than original colors, but this is absolutely gorgeous. I love how this red almost makes it look like a toy.

Thank you Duane! I most definitely had things backwards and now it all makes sense! Hopefully the parts kit arrives soon so I can replace the NRV as well as this pump cup.

Re: 242c generator salvageable?

For future reference, heat the geberator tube to free the insides if they're feozen in place, and never heat the pricker rod or spring. Remove the ceramic tube and heat it to red hot by itself.

Re: Swedish stove size comparison

The stove is an Optimus 22. The pump cup was for a Euro stove, or so I assume. It was hard as a rock when I got it and sat in neatsfoot oil for at least two or three years. Maybe it should have been longer and I was impatient. :) There was no cup on the shaft when I picked it up and I had to remove ...

Re: Swedish stove size comparison

I don't know what my pump cup was originally intended for, but was able to squeeze it into the tube. I've not had this issue with other Euro stoves. Well, when I did have an issue, it was the pip and not the pump cup. I'm confident the cup is installed right, but I'm not confident in the cup itself....

Re: Swedish stove size comparison

I agree Duane, but I am at a loss with this one. I get more resistance on the upstroke, and the cup is not backwards. :) Just waiting for my shipment from across the pond. I hope it's this simple. I really don't want to remove the pump tube to fix it.

Re: 242c generator salvageable?

Forget worrying about asbestos. If you had an asbestos woven tube instead of the ceramic, it would be the wrong type. For a concern, it would first need to be the friable kind which you can break it up into dust. Second, you would need to play scratch and sniff with it for so many hours over so many...

Re: Rolex Lantern?

I'm very suspicious of this one, as in, I do not believe it at all. Admittedly, I did look, but find no reference that such a lantern ever existed. Not that I expected to see evidence that it did. Looking at the lantern itself, Rolex does not write their brand name that way. In addition, it has the ...

Re: Swedish stove size comparison

I've got a 22 that I repainted for a friend and need to return it to him I wanted to get it fired up before returning it, but can't get any pressure into the tank, even with a new pump leather, and I'm certain the pip was good as I took it from another working stove to be sure. I bought a complete k...
