228d fount replacement

FYI 220/8 D's were the last of the brass founts that were nickel plated. E's and F's are steel founts (as least all I've seen), and are harder to nickel.

Lye for cleaning nickel?

There is a toilet bowl cleaner called WORKS available at Dollar General stores (probably other stores also), that is very strong and great for removing rust from founts and frames. But, it needs to be rinsed out quickly and thoroughly with water and the some CF or other cleaner. It will eat rust ...

Air stem stuck in pump shaft on 220!!

might try spraying it at both ends (little hole in pump handle) with PB Blaster and then straighten out a big paper clip and gently try to punch it out sticking the paper clip down the same little hole in the pump.

Check that NIB mil to see if it is a SMP -- many of the SMP's did not have a procelian finish on the vent. They painted the steel vent and the paint burns off as soon as lit and then rust sets in.

Repairing Quicklite fuel cap seal

Here's an easy way to get that pump out of the 427s --- I go to my local garage (they do all my auto work for years), they take a 1 inch deep socket and attach it to their air hammer (used for lug nuts), one or two quick shots and the nut is lose. It works every time with no scars or dents.

...
