Air stem missing threads

Well here's a new one on me. Pulled the air stem from a 1958 Coleman MilSpec. Looked real odd and then I realized it was missing the threaded brass piece at the end. Never seen this before. And luckily the mising piece was not in the check valve. Photo shows it next to a 220 airstem on the right . h...

I read a number of posts that mention how USPS mail delivery can be horrible. I’ve never run into that problem but maybe because I live in a big city. If you want to get rid of the entire logo just soak the font in muratic acid (trade name for hydrochloric acid) overnight. Wash off with water and it’s gone. Sometimes there will be a shadow that can be done away with mothers.

I think will never all agree on the risk of font sealing. BUT, maybe as a group we could all agree that if a font is sealed that it should have a statement painted on the bottom that states it was sealed.

Something like "Tank Sealed with POR15 Jan 2023"

Collar burn?

I've run into this problem on a couple 288s and 290s. The collar color has turned a kind of golden brown in places. Is this from heat or something else? And is there anything that can be done other than a replacement?

Someone real good at welding might be able to save those hinges. But a better solution is to find some replacement. There's a great metal shop in central NC - but i think that a bit to far from Texas.

Can you bend it back in shape? if it was so easy to bend the first time i would think you could fix it. And i would put it back together before attempting a re-bend - it's easy to squash the round out that thin (well thinner) brass.
