Re: Bachelor camping, what's for dinner?

While "bachelor camping" pretty well describes my lifestyle, I do some of my best and most involved cooking when summer car-camping. Evenings are long, so plenty of time to cook after playing all day. Stir-frys are one of my specialties: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50147796928_f05038a423_b.j...

I just love it when the shop owner (or yard saler) prices the common greens high, and the old, "worn-out" nickels cheap! I've gotten a couple for almost nothing because "Hon, all the paint is gone on that one."

Kenmore (Sears) heater wick?

My Kenmore branded kero heater needs a new wick. I think it's the Perfection 500--currently out of stock at Miles Stair's, but I'm not sure. I thought MS listed the ID and OD of their wicks, but if so, I can't find it. Mine is 2 1/8" OD, 2 1/2" ID. If anyone has one or knows where to get one, let me...

A piece of 2-2 1/2" PVC pipe in the tristand makes for a very nice mandrel. I use a soft-faced, deadblow mallet on the outside. I usually have a collar nice, dent-free and straight in a minute or two.

Our 'blower--the same model and size as yours--throws snow about 25-30', depending on snow condition.

There's a lot of strategy in figuring out where to direct the snow and what pattern to work in, especially in the tight space we have around the brewery and pub.

The only gasket I recall on these if the big one between the carbide chamber and burner head. It's BIG--like 2" ID. I've used inner tube rubber to make them in the past. It's not a solvent fuel like gasoline that will affect the rubber, so they work just fine.
