I have 5 examples of reversed date lanterns ranging from 1937-1940 IIRC. I made a post with photos several months ago... May still be available through a search 🤷‍♂️ Very common. I have a Gold Bond 200A in a similar situation. Was is not turned enough .... or 1/2 turn "too far"? Since it is a great burner ..... I can live with it. I'm not going to risk a spun bung on this one!

Interesting .... lantern arrived and upon closer inspection ..... "rust" spots appear to be paint chips with light rust covering the bare metal. if it is surface rust why not dab some rust converter on it? I'm definitely going to do that when the rust is relatively distant from the IDF insignia. My concern is that there seems to be some discoloration under the white stamp. If it is rust, I don't know if the rust "converter" would therefore ...

Rust Removal on Bottom of Fount?

What would y'all recommend as to how to remove the rust at the bottom of this fount without damaging the painted IDF insignia? I'm a big fan of Evapo-Rust ..... but afraid that if any rust has migrated under the IDF paint,it would also cause the paint to flake off. Thanks for your suggestions .........
