Re: Not my usual
That's a pretty good haul, there, Carlson, more gas there than me after a bowl of chili. Good you're trying something different; I don't have any stoves like that, but wouldn't mind one that uses CF in a cylinder with the pump...I forget the name of them. I had an MSR like you are describing. Prett...

Like most of you I am into the standard liquid fueled lanterns and stoves. Propane has its place in my collection, but I've never cared much for the aesthetic of the "modern" backpackers (these pieces are over 20 years old now!), despite how incredibly functional they are. However, it's been a slow ...

Thanks for the pic of that Hawthorne/Western Field cooler. I've been searching for a while now , trying to find a match for the cooler that we had growing up, and I think that may be it.

Free bump for 10gage. I have one of these, and just so y'all know the tank is steel so it doesn't suffer from the same stress cracks that plague the 520 counterpart. The burners are solid and it runs every bit as good as a Coleman 523.

I think we all know the Sears models of lanterns, stove, and heaters in the 60's and 70's were manufactured by Coleman. But beyond the obvious, what "documentation" exists that proves this? I'd like to see some discussion as to the purpose of oiling the leather. Any Coleman replacements I've come across, and new ones from OCP, have little if any oil in them.
