Re: Questions on Pirate Ship

You should be able to go on the UPS or USPS web site and set up a pickup. I just take them in and drop them off. No need to go to the counter. My post office has bins for paid labels. The UPS store has a drop off spot for paid labels. I then just do my running around town after dropping them off.

Here is a 200a with a mesh screen mantle. It gives off some light, but not much. It makes a good heater though! This was at the AZ campout a few years ago. The owner uses it as a heater in the back of his truck to take the chill off as he is getting ready for bed. https://i.postimg.cc/d0m8cJBf/20200...

Re: Lantern fettling skills applied elsewhere, 1975 Yamaha

Just pull the carb and clean it. You will be kicking your leg off and more than likely it will not start after sitting that long with gas in it. The jets and passages get plugged up when they sit with gas. If you have an ultrasonic cleaner, that would be the best thing. If not, just pull all the jet...

Re: Rare gold REI 50th Anniversary Peak 1 400A stove?

That is a great find!! Are the decals in the box? The ones I have seen over the years have had some sort of decal pealing. I guess the glue Coleman was using at the time did not like that gold paint. Here is mine with the decals. https://i.postimg.cc/bNjv5c3f/20240414-080601.jpg https://i.postimg.cc...

Re: Matches for my pocket or hat

UCO makes “storm” matches that come in a nice sturdy case. It also comes with extra strike pads. I suppose you could mount one of the pads to the inside of the cap. https://i.postimg.cc/SsKcWcbw/IMG-5527.jpg Coleman make a smaller one but it would be had to get enough throw to strike a match on the...

Got to see it in 3 different locations in 2019 when it came through UT on it's way to CA. I knew a remote location where it would be under full steam and saw it go by at 50 mph. It was impressive! Try Ace Hardware Leather Brown Enamel. It is really close to the 275 and that is what has been listed for those in the past.

I car camped with two people out of one of those for years. There was plenty of room for the two of us just as long as you did not bring a bunch of stuff inside. If you need to store stuff inside overnight, then yes, it is a one person tent just like any two person tent. Back in the 90's, those were...

It takes a 288 generator. They are still available and OCP has Coleman made ones. They also have a new burner assembly if the screen will not go in and stay put.

In my experience, low octane pump gas will still burn cleanly with no smell, but it's not good for your generator. I was using fresh 87 octane pump gas when I first got my 440. It stuck really bad when running. Switched to Coleman Fuel, problem solved. I got 20 years and more meals cooked than I ca...

I picked up a 220B at an antique store in KS in January. My first lantern find of the new year. The price was fair. I have a soft spot for B's, so I could not leave it behind.

Paul,

The Peak ones are very hard to find. Look for a Sigg wind screen too. They fit the Peak series great. That is what I use.

Re: any tips for 533 simmering help

I have a bunch of these single burners. They all have a personality of their own. As stated, just turn it down very slow and find the sweet spot for simmer on your stove that you are looking for. It may be different on another stove. I have had two of the same model stove. One would simmer perfect. ...

Are you sure it has a compressor? I have not messed with the new 12V only ones. I had a three way one in my old popup. It ran off propane, 120V converted to 12V, and 12V when traveling. It did not have a compressor. They use the heat of the propane and a 12V heating element that heats ammonia to do ...

I have done about 50 generators. I do the heat and quenching as stated. I then take a piece of electrical wire and push it into the end where the fuel tip goes and push out the spring and tubing. I then soak it in citric acid and use a 17 cal. cleaning brush to scrub out the generator body. A rub do...

Re: Total Solar Eclipse April 8; Anyone Living in the Path?

I saw the one in October here in UT. The I15 corridor and all the towns around it were a zoo. I drove some friends about an hour away well away from the I 15 to a small town that was in the totality path. There were maybe a dozen people in the parking lot of a Union Pacific train switching yard. It ...

If you are showing the artwork file that you want to use, then you can make waterslide decals from your printer. Just do a search on Amazon for inkjet waterslide paper. You print them up, spray them with clear coat spray paint to seal them up. Then put them in water and then slide them on the lanter...

That is a great score! I had two setups like that for my Search and Rescue team when I worked at Joshua Tree NP. We had brown 400 stoves though. They got used once and a while. I use a sig wind screen on my 440 stove. It makes a world of difference to keep the heat on the pot.

I agree with Lynn, with the threaded pump cap, yours is a C. When you clean it up, it is clocked wrong from the picture. The fuel valve should be above the decal. You will see the model markings to the left of the fuel valve on the collar. Also, the decals are different from the C's to the painted D...

Re: Coleman sweatshirt question

The previous owner may have used a laundry service. That was their customer number. I had to do this with my laundry when I was a wildland firefighter. When I would be out on long assignments, a contractor would do laundry for us. We had to put our initials on everything. Just a guess.
