I was looking to buy a used F150 a year ago. Found one I liked in January. 2017 with 41,000 miles on it for $32,000. Didn't pull the trigger, so missed out on it. Early March, the same truck, same year, with more bells and whistles than the earlier one, popped up on the radar for $35,000 with only 8...

Based on what happens when any polish is put on a porcelain vent, I would hesitate putting anything on this vent not knowing what heat would do to it.

Hey all! Thanks for the positive feedback. The Chromex for the fount and frame is just over $50. The vent was about $25. Is $80 reasonable? I will leave that for y'all to decide. Just to add more confusion, the 508 uses the earlier 400 generator where the 508A & 508 B use the latter. The 533 also uses the latter generator. Part numbers are different for the 508 A/B and 533, but they are interchangeable.

Check to make sure the "U-Tube", where the generator enters, is clear of any obstructions, like dead bugs or even spider webs.

Sometimes a new generator will improve things.

A 222B check valve should be the same as a 200A or 220 check valve. The air stem is shorter, of course. I am uncertain as to what a 252B lantern is. But mil-spec lanterns pretty much have interchangable parts.

The layer 288s without a burner cage have metal E-blocks. The 288s with a burner cage had a plastic E-block and no heat shield. Coleman took a "belt and suspenders" approach by making the E- block metal and adding the heat shield.

Yours is safe with the heat shield in place.
