Seems that was a common problem with the early cl2 lanterns, melted eccentric blocks. Coleman's answer was to install a heat shield to protect the plastic eccentric until it did not. Coleman painted the inside of the founts with paint. They used different colors over the years. It was enamel or epoxy.

I had the same situation with some of my stoves. Could not find a source. So I made a pump cup tool for new leather cups. You can make them with whatever you can find. Trial and error, you can make some. The image is just an example, not the size you will need.

None of my 400, 505,576, 440 series stoves and the 533 do the chug thing. they all use the same burner bowl design. I have replaced the wicks by drilling out the rivets then using fireproof house insulation with screws and locking nuts.
