The #39 came in several flavors. The original #39 Vulcan had a wire frame. The steel clad had a sheet metal frame as yours does.

Re: I’ll Make The Coffee, Show Off Some “Pyrex”

Modern "Pyrex" is not borosilicate, but simply tempered lime glass and has a bit of a rep for exploding. I don't recall when the change happened, but just Google "exploding pyrex". Well Corning sold the Pyrex trademark. Right about the time JAFE stopped dying globes. The "made in Germany" globes dy...

Have yet to see a 236 or 237 embossed collar with "Empire" or "Major" on them, curious if they ever existed. I would have to say I doubt that sincerely. Although, as Agostino said, the names were still used long after they printed them on the collar. Someone else who might know is Cigar Mike as he ...

"All Sales Final" doesn't really apply or is no longer an option basically, is how I understand it. I agree. They want the seller to offer a money back guarantee. I thought only the usa made 236s had "Major" on the collar Funny that you would say that. Just pick up your US Major and look:-) Original US 236's PROBABLY were called Major because early US 237's were called "Empire". But it is not very common. The lanterns are few, undated and there are no records.

Valvoline and Torco make an octane booster that is "concentrated racing fuel" and does bring the octane up. It contains an oxidizing agent and turns your engine cylinder walls brown.

Cost or not the Caswell treatment will seal the metal. There are other sealers too. I've found that a small amount of evaporust residue keeps it from flash rusting. Another trick-used for new cylinder bores-is to hit it with WD40 immediately after dumping the rinse. Then use compressed air, and WD40...
