Agree with above, pure lye crystals from the hardware store is what I use. And of course, always add lye to water, NEVER water to lye.

AGM 3927 Generator Question
Anyone know if the generator for an AGM 3927 is the same as a 220? I know the end of the pricker rod fitting is different, but wondering if the generator tube and tip and the same as a Coleman 220.

Great video. That burner is a period correct AGM. I had one of those and it landed with my buddy Joe. We just fired it up a few weeks ago.

WTB: Lamp Globe for 129
Local friend of mine, sort of a collector, broke the globe on his 129 lamp and needs to replace it. Poor guy is kicking himself. Anyhow, it's a straight line logo inner globe. Anyone have one they'd part with? Please PM me if you can help.
Thanks all!

Re: Military Field Stove
Yes, this is a Coleman M2A burner that was used on the bottom shelf of a field oven, as Bob said. There would have been several racks above it; more of a cabinet. I've owned a couple of these in the past and they're a really cool piece. One of those has heated my garage more than once. The later one...

Nice haul! Your torch light looks almost identical to the Gloria Model J on Terry's site, but the J that's pictured has a different burner assembly with a Q99 looking generator:

Perhaps an earlier version? Never seen one like that before.

WTB: 2 Quicklite 327 Embossed Vents *FOUND*
Picked up a couple of Quicklites recently, one with no vent and the other with the wrong vent. Looking for two vents in decent shape. Have an ample amount of stuff to trade, or happy to buy for a reasonable price. Let me know if you have spares and can help out.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just clearing out some space in the garage. One note about the clamshell cases for newer collectors: These will NOT hold a high vent 220/228 (model E and earlier). Maybe the founts are the same and your fount was made in 1935, but not assembled until 1936 with 242B parts? More than likely this, IMO. Someone along the line also probably put in a 200A valve stem as well. Could you post a picture of the direction disc? You said it was unlike others you'd seen. L...

Hmmm...interesting. If that snorkel is loose and you're seeing fuel inside of the pump tube then there's probably a crack there somewhere in the tube and it's leaking. IMO, probably not a useable fount.

I'm not quite clear on which part inside of the fount is loose. Is it the fuel & air tube at the bottom of the valve? Or, it it the air snorkel that's attached to the end of the pump tube?

Were it me at this point, I think I'd be swapping out the generator. I'm wondering if somewhere along the line, the vaporizer opening was enlarged and you're getting too much fuel. Have you tried running it with the tip cleaning lever 1/2 to 2/3 closed? If it settles down and runs like that, then I'...

Since you are working on a '45 milspec, the disc which says "mantles" is going to be correct. At that point, Coleman was manufacturing standard 220 burners into those lanterns and so they came with a corresponding direction disc. Later, the army contracted with Aladdin to produce the single burner ...

One word of caution regarding UPS....my advice is to NEVER use them for international shipping. Last time I did was a package destined for England. Logged in at Stansted Hub, then sat for months. A buddy removed a coat of paint off of a lamp just using vinegar and a rag. I don't understand this one, but certainly has to do with the paint used. I suggest starting off with the mildest method suggested and working your way up as necessary. Totally agree. Vinegar is a good place to start. Thank...

A couple closeup well lighted pic of the decal will go a long ways to telling if it’s original. You can also remove the pump and check for any green overspray in the pump tube. Excellent advice. IMO, the three biggest signs would be, 1) a vinyl replacement decal vs. original looking waterslide, 2) ...
