I have a silver one, and a 1972 vintage one, copper/black color.
I find the vintage one more robust in construction. The silver one seems flimsy by comparison.
The vintage one seems to hold the heat better.

Good for you Logan. Sometimes we make it through one day at a time. We should recognize our accomplishments, and help others in the same boat. AA was a big help to me in my first few years of sobriety. Life is so much better without alcohol, for some of us.

That's a nice power supply Timm. I bought one planning only electrolysis use, and it doesn't have the fine adjustment to three decimal places. Mine is coarse only, to two places. I'll have to play with it a bit and see if it is capable of holding .30 A. I imagine it can, as it is capable of either c...

I've painted a few. Usually I wanted a red wheel and only had black. Be sure to clean it well before painting. Most modern spray paints bond well directly to plastic.
I've had zero issues with paint adherence. Go for it.

Re: Ulf’s “ratty, old milspec”, and a 290
That 290 looks clean! Try a large bulge globe on it... changes the appearance in an interesting way (237/639 size large bulge globe). Your milspec looks like a good user. The milspec is more a novelty to me; I find them just a bit too fiddly to use on a regular basis. I prefer the simple reliability...

Not too bad. 52F to start at 5PM, 43F an hour and a half later at 7 PM. I didn't wear gloves this trip and my fingers didn't get cold until the last 20 minutes. My wife only had a half skirt on, she got soaked in a couple of the rapids. She wasn't cold until we got out.

Nice Fulton Lynn! How long ago did you get your 1825 vise and where? Small high quality vises like that go for premium $$ on Eprey these days. If you get lucky, you might find one at an estate or yard sale, but those deals are getting fewer and further between these days. I do see deals for 3 to 5"...

Re: OT: buying a vise
I like a smaller vise for Coleman parts work. I'm using a 2.5" Fulton 1825 that I restored. Build date 1907 - 1911, so it's well over 100 years old. Quality vises of this size and age aren't too hard to find, aren't very expensive, and are easy and satisfying to restore. https://i.postimg.cc/7YbFqP4...

Ulf, new, current manufacture ovens are available online everywhere. Aluminized, and flimsy. I prefer the older steel ones, painted copper & black. They hold the heat more evenly. Mine was "unfired" but rusted on one panel from damp storage. It is dated approx 1972, according to spare parts catalog ...

Ulf, that's a beautiful vintage KampKook!! As said, a 425 or 413 Coleman would be great user stoves. The 425 is a bit more compact... but if you're not traveling/camping with it, go with the 413. Its larger size makes it more versatile, you can use larger pots and pans. And as a bonus, the Coleman c...
