Yesterday I was able to pickup this 237B from Craigslist, thank you to Flywheel 73 for the heads up. It came from his dad’s estate in NJ with all the peripherals, wrench, 2 unused generators, 12 mantels and one open mantle package, and instructions. Dated 7 44. Looks to have been used lightly. Very good info Kevin. So far I've been using large enough glass to keep me out of trouble or Pyrex. I'll have to see if the one tiny mica chimney I have will fit. That makes it even more cool. Chuck, your glass chimney is what I typically run on my larger arc lamps, with and without a glass globe. ...

That makes sense Kevin. I saw some small mangled mica chimneys yesterday. They were apparently common on gas lamps. The mica would only be necessary to protect the mantle from bugs if the shade wasn't in use? It seems redundant with a shade. In Neil’s image you see mica or a chimney for a outdoor v...

I’ve got a couple similar in the pile and one on it’s way
Once that arrives I’ll try to inventory what I have and confirm if I have a spare. So maybe.
It will be a week though.
Parts like that are hard to find and even harder to let go of.
Especially for hoarders like me.

I do realize not everyone gets the same level of service though.
Heck the stuff I send to CA shows up in 2-3 days.

I learned that if you don't spray the coats 15-20 minutes apart you have make sure that paint is fully cured before adding another coat. You can do this by baking in the oven for an hour at 250°F or waiting a week. Temperature plays a huge part in how the paint flows and cures. That was one coat of...
