For the lens, a tip from Christopher_OR was to use a cut out from a plastic soda bottle. What I did was buy the cheapest tire pressure gauge (slime brand) and use the lens from it.

One thing I would try is to flip the spring so that the "flat" side of the spring is behind the pip holder. I had a Tilley that didn't hold pressure when the spring was installed the wrong way. If the pip holder is against the "non-flat" side of the spring, it ends up crooked and the pip not sealing...

A 3F also has a 9-3/4" generator. I didn't measure my 3H, but I'm guessing it will also have the same gen length. Generator for the 3F is 413-262.

I should clarify. It shares the same needle with older HGPs (1920's) like the 5052...I think the later HGPs, 30's to 40's, are different.
