Re: Condition: Used?
Jack, Actually, you should be able to get a full refund, and the seller should pay the shipping both ways. The reason for this is simple - you are correct when you say that ebay has a particular definition of "used". From what you're describing, the lantern clearly does not meet that standard, and t...

SOLD: Butterfly 828 Lantern
Here, we have a fully restored Butterfly 828. As most of us know, the Butterfly lanterns come straight out of the factory with multiple issues & problems (which may vary from lantern to lantern)! And so was the case here! I came across this and found that the original owner was pretty much exasperat...

I'm afraid that I will have to come down on the "pass on it" side of the issue. Butterfly is one of the better clones . I was 8 years old. My bedtime was at 9:00 PM. No exceptions. My father came in and woke me up, possibly around 11 PM - midnight (not sure of the exact time) and said "the astronauts are about to walk on the moon"! We sat in front of our TV and watched that incredibly blurry, washed-out and grainy im...

Re: Craigslist Find & Project 222A
I don't consider myself an expert in lubricants, Ken, but I'd have a look at your caliper grease first. The two things that I would look for, are: 1) High Temperature compatibility 2) Something that won't tend to deteriorate the o-ring. My grease works on both those points, so I've never researched ...

Would anyone out there happen to have an extra mil-spec gas tip that they'd be willing to part with? I had my generator apart the other day, and I stupidly dropped the tip on the floor. Project 222A
Hello, my fellow Coleman Connoisseurs! I was lucky enough to pick up this lantern, a week or so ago. Even though it appears to be almost in like new condition, it was manufactured in January, 1987! That's almost 37 years ago. Since we're all pretty much aware of the high failure rate of o-rings, I d...

What you can do is, first remove the valve wheel, then heat the packing nut & valve body with a propane torch. Then, using a rag saturated in cold water, quench just the stem, and quickly attach the valve wheel and try to open the valve. You might have to do this 5 times or even more in stubborn cas...

You do need to twist it about 1/8 turn counterclockwise and then pull out. It can usually be done by hand (good to wear a work glove to get a good grip). If that doesn't work, I use a rubber strap wrench to grip the plastic cap and turn it. Failing that - you can use the tips of a needlenose pliers ...

Before you do anything else, try this one thing. After the stove "warms up", run it on high for about 15-20 minutes. Then see what the flame looks like.
