Good point on the fuel residue, Toby. Before any de-rusting, lye goes in first to tackle any of that fuel crud.

Bill, for their size, some of these old fans really move some serious air. One would be perfect next to a work bench. Good luck tracking one down and thanks for checking it out. 😎👍🏻

Try putting the generator on the valve first, like doing a 242/200A. Then lower the frame onto the lantern. You might need to adjust the air tube/burner assembly height, too.

I'd give it a shot. Your lantern is actually a 228D though so a frame with the wider bail would be best.

With the genny removed, full tank and still no fuel flow, I definitely think the pickup is clogged/restricted. It is a super tiny opening similar in size to the gas tip opening on the top of the generator. Typically this restriction is from gummy fuel deposits--especially if pump gas has been used o...

Welcome to the CCF. While Schrader valves can create issues with these lanterns operation, if it’s passing air but no fuel it sounds like there are other problems. Assuming you have enough fuel in the fount, the symptom of air but no fuel passing out of the top of the generator could be a couple thi...

Re: Troubleshooting: Under pressure, at the eccentric block..

Stretching the spring isn’t too critical. Proper placement of the spring is. It should be under the collar of the fuel control rod.

Before putting the generator on, did you confirm full flow of fuel at full open of the valve?

How about cleaning/reaming the fuel pickup orifice with a toothpick?

Re: Troubleshooting: Under pressure, at the eccentric block..

You should expect to lose pressure very quickly with the generator off. No restriction to slow down the flow.

You should see sputtering fuel/air with the valve 1/4 turn open, straight fuel at full open.

Try that out and if so, put the genny back on and give it a go with some flame.

I tore it down and cleaned the pick up tube and valve in the US in vinegar. Put back together and same. Sputtering at the main v...
