Mostly whatever I have depending on the grime: dish soap and water, Go-jo/Fast Orange, Lava soap, Sprayway, Barkeeper’s Friend, oven cleaner, lye bath in the ultra sonic cleaner, 4/0 steel wool, razor blades and fingernail scratching as needed.

No wax.

On the pump cap, my 12-‘21 639C has the same type. I was surprised that it wasn’t the big plastic one.

Yea, you can use lye (sodium hydroxide) to clean stainless steel cookware. Sodium hydroxide is an ingredient in most automatic dishwashing detergents. Generally, lye and aluminum are a no-no. The valve bung on the 290 series is larger than the 1/8" NPT of the 242/200 series valves. So, unfortunately not without modification/making a bushing.

There are large 220-size founts with 1/8" NPT threads. My Canadian 639 is. Hopefully other can chime in with more info on that.
