Yea, Brian, they would all be the (normal) larger type. Some early-mid ‘50s ones had a ceramic burner cap but it was still larger than the 220 type.

Try folding the bail/handle down, close to the fount. Then grab it near the ventilator end with your fingers. Use your thumbs to keep the bail ends from chipping the porcelain. Works well for putting on and taking off. An old timer taught me this and it is much easier on the bail-through-the-ventila...

It happens, Tyler. Sometimes the stamp is light (or missing), partial, or in the wrong spot (opposite side). Add some rust into the mix and it can make things more difficult. Either way, it’s making light, so enjoy it!

Looks like you’ve got some good direction from the folks here to check out the candling issue on your 275.
Some folks aren’t too fond of 275s, but just like the rest of ‘em, they’re great lanterns. Enjoy!

Re: Leaking valve?
Sometimes loose bits of graphite will work their way out along with a fuel leak at the packing nut.
Usually snugging up the nut and/or cleaning the valve stem with some 4/0 steel wool takes care of it. If not, I replace the packing.

Nice to see it up and running.

I think the concern about running it in the cold is more for the safety of the glass, as opposed to the ability to vaporize.

Re: Dietz Night Watch won’t run right
Steve, The wick should be 3/8" on the Night Watch--well, actually 13/32" if you can find it. That works out to be 0.375" vs. 0.406". I'm wondering if the wrong size (1/2") is giving you trouble? I've run mine without any issues using both clear kero and Klean Heat. The flame height isn't supposed to...

They are 1/8 NPT. The valve is pretty small, but it is tough to tell by the pics without something alongside for scale.

I actually don’t use BBs. Instead, I use small pointed sheet metal screws (#6) and 1/4-20 hex nuts. Their pointed/angular shape gets into the corners a little better than a ball.
