How is the kayaking at Wilson Lake at that time of the year? I haven't been to one of these gatherings, but a lake makes it sounds extra interesting. Looks to be about a 6 hour drive from my house?

Yep. The photos look nice. Thanks. I was wondering if the temps, weather and or wind made for a nice paddle. In Colorado, at that time, the weather can be 70 one day and 35 the next. Just wondering if it's the same, that is, hit or miss.

It's usually warm during the day 70s to 90s and cool at night 50s maybe down to mid 40s

Random question.....how dark are the skies out there. I was thinking of bringing my big 8" Dobsonian Telescope out if anyone is interested. I know here near Atlanta we don't get the views like out west. I know with the all the lanterns going it going to be bright, but I am sure there will be some dark areas for some good viewing!

Depends on the moon. Have to look at the moon phases. Other than that it should be plenty dark unless we have a few hundred lanterns lit. 😆

Brad has the group camping area reserved, if it gets full then right next to it and I mean right next to it is the large Sylvan Grove campground. It’s a Corp of Engineer campground, full hookups, bath house, lots of shade, tents allowed. Sept. 15 2021 is the beginning of the off season, no reservations can be made. It’s where I actually prefer to camp and walk over to the action. I have yet to see it even remotely close to full the last 3 years. Hoping for the same this year as well. I can’t make it till Friday.

Will be looking for:

236/236a valve, gen, burner frame, vent, and globe... AGM stuff, Sun Flame stuff, Thermos blue painted lanterns working or not or for parts - particularly a blue Thermos 8315 which is the large single mantle with separate pump and filler. AGM/sunflame glass

Will be bringing in the trade pile:

An old steel stove stand in great shape, along with various coleman goodies. Have 415C and D stoves and will bring them if anyone is interested in them.

This year, I'm bringing large singles and oddballs to run and display, and maybe... Kerolite, Aladdin lamp, AGM heater, Perfection heater, just for fun.

Will be cooking a turkey in the coleman folding oven again this year.

I will be bringing a Poultry Lantern that's for sale also a 160 Kero Lite with working gallery missing the chimney and wick but comes with a wick carrier so you can staple a Aladdin wick on it. Price on Poultry at the gathering is $1000 firm and $100 firm on 160 Kero Lite and I think that's about all I'll have in the for sale pile besides some asorted pumps and a electric coffee pot and other smalls

As fate would have it, my oldest son and his wife are closing on their first house this Wednesday, so I'm going to need to skip the Fall Gathering this year. We'll be helping them move in next weekend. Bummer for the Wilson Lake trip as I was really hoping to be able to attend.

Any early arrivals will need to stay in the Campground next to the group Campground until Thursday. My permit for the Group Campground is Thursday September 30th to Sunday Oct 3rd so on Thursday you can move over to the group Campground if you wish.

I will be bringing some globes to sell. I have 28 or 30 220 size. Almost all are red letter with a few (3-4) sunrise and one picket fence. Also have some 288/286 size, both chinese and U.S. I do not have 550 size globes (200A size). If anyone is interested I have a couple of 425 and 413 stoves but will not bring them unless someone is interested. I have a Ted Williams 2 burner stove made by Poloron that is a beater but it burns well, again I will bring it only if someone is interested. PM with questions or to show interest. Everyone travel safely.

Glad to see you at the gathering Doug, it was a great time, absolute perfect weather. A huge thanks to Brad for hosting. Met a new face with a very worthy collection (Devin)! The wife and I are staying in the adjacent campground one more night. Really a magnificent place. I’m sure Darla will have pics in a day or two, she always does, thanks Darla!
