2022 Fall Great Lakes Gordon's Gathering

#1

Post by Flyboyfwa »

The Great Lakes Fall Gathering at Gordon's Campground near Kendallville, IN is planned for Friday-Sunday September 16th-18th . We will be in the usual area. The campground confirmed our usual rate of $18.00 per night.

I talked to the campground and they planning on us using the pavilion for the weekend, and a hayride on Saturday night.

We would like to plan for a group meal on Saturday evening prior to the hayride. I am talking to the campground to see if we could have communal fire pit across from the pavilion if everyone is interested. I would like to have a lantern theme if there are ideas.

As usual, Gordons asked that we call and reserve as soon as possible so that they can plan for us.

Usually there are items for sale. Gatherings are great places to add to your collection. I have picked up several nice items from other collectors. It is a great place to learn a lot about Coleman. I feel confident that you will have no trouble finding advice on how to get things up and running. Welcome to the forum from Huntertown.

We are one month away from the Great Lakes Fall Gathering at Gordon’s Campground on September 16th -18th. If you haven’t already, make sure that you make your reservation soon.
The campgrounds contact information is :
Gordons Campground
9500 E 600 S
Kendallville, IN 46795
(260)351-3383
There will not be an organized dinner Friday night as everyone will be arriving at different times. We are planning on an organized dinner Saturday night in the pavilion. The theme for dinner Saturday is Mexican. We are planning to bring flour tortillas and chicken. If you would like to bring something, it would help if some one could bring anyone the following:
Rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, salsa, guacamole or anything else you like with tacos. Sides and desserts are welcome also. After the dinner will be the hayride. As usual, displays or buy and sell items are welcome in the pavilion.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

We are one week away from the Fall Gathering at Gordons. I hope you are all looking forward to this as much as I am. So far this is what people are bringing for the group chicken taco meal on Saturday night.

Chicken
Tortillas
Beans
Sour cream
Onion
Hot sauce
Some desserts
Cheese
Tortilla chips

We could still use the following if you would like to bring something.
Salsa
Lettuce
Tomato
Guacamole
Paper plates/utensils/napkins
Anything else you would like to have with dinner
Ground beef taco meat if you would prefer something other than chicken.
Whatever you want to drink.

If you would like to reply or PM me with what you are bringing that would be great.
I hope everyone has safe travels and I look forward to old friends and new faces.

We had good weather and a great turnout for the Fall Gathering at Gordon’s. Between 40-50 people camped and there were about 60 total people there on Saturday. There were a lot of folks making their first visit. Many were seasoned collectors from farther away. This made the Gathering even better. There was the usual buying and selling. It looked like many people came away with good deals.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the group dinner. After the dinner was the hayride. It was great to see everyone and talk Coleman. This was the first gathering I have been to that had it’s own movie theater.

As usual, I learned a lot from many different people. This is one of the things I enjoy most about gatherings. The chance to just stand back and listen and learn from so many knowledgeable people.
This gathering was the largest group we have cooked for using our Coleman gear.

There were several good suggestions made and a few issues we will address with Gordon’s. One suggestion was the return of a group breakfast on Saturday morning. I think this is a great idea. We are already working on planning for next year.

Kristin and I want to thank everyone who attended and hope you all had safe travels home. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
