WTB MilSpec wrench clip

#1

Post by oldfox66 »

I'm looking for the spring clip that holds the wrench on a MilSpec burner, it's held on with 2 rivets, if anyone happens to have one. I saw the ones someone had that have only 1 rivet hole so I'm hoping just maybe soneone may have the 2 hole version.

My burner is in great shape so I would like to not swap it out but if someone has an old one in not so great shape I would concider purchasing it just to get the spring clip if I can't find just the clip.

Never seen the two rivet version on any of my 520 stoves. By MilSpec burner are you referring to the 523, 2-burner stove? Not certain that's the correct model number.

So what happened to these wrench clips? Are they broken or rusted, or are you trying to install an early wrench clip on a burner frame built after they'd been deleted?

This is the one you're talking about? 1944 Aladdin frame.

I see. My oldest MilSpec is an AFM from the 1960s and the wrench is stored in the parts well. I learned something new today!

Yes, that is the one I am looking for. Mine snapped in the middle of the bend, right along a line of rust that had formed on it.

My wrench doesn't allow the lid to screw down, it's about 1/16" too tall when inserted narrow end down and just a hair too wide to go wide end down.

Try another wrench, yours might be one someone tried to straighten out. They are supposed to have a bend in them and fit at an angle.
