Not sure if this belongs in Single Burner Stoves or Military Stoves, but this unfired 550B from 10/95 was acquired from another member and veteran Hot_Diggity (Chuck), and was effectively military surplus. Hopefully he will chime in with additional background.
Includes extra generator and wrench for kerosene burning.
The NSN decal on the fount is indicative of it being a military owned and distributed piece.

That's a good question. Either will probably work, but I think the military category would be best because it allows for a similar civilian model to be posted in the Single Burner Stove category.

Gentle suggestions that:
1) you change the title to, 550B, Peak 1 Military, 10/95, USA.

2) post a close-up photo of the date stamping.

3) if that sticker on the stove fount is the indication that it is military, please state that in the body of the post and provide a clear photo of the sticker.

These are things I would be looking for if I was collecting 550 stoves. That's a very nice example.

All I know is that they wandered off Camp Lejeune more than ten years ago and I found them at a shop in town. :)

There's a second generator for kerosene, diesel, or more likely JP5 or JP8 in those days. I ran one on kerosene and it needed a bit more preheat to run cleanly than I thought was practical. That may explain why I found several that were blackened and dented, like they'd caught fire and been kicked all over the bivouac area.

THanks for the suggestions. 1 and 3 are done. I'll have to pull it back out of my closet for the date stamp pic.

Looks good Carlton. Just let me know when you're ready and we'll get it moved over into the gallery.

I'm done with it, if everyone else is.
