This is the Coleman model 528, built to the military specification of the M-1942MOD for soldiers in WW2. This spec was also built by Aladdin and Prentiss-Wabers between 1943 and 1945, but Coleman only produced them in 1945. Aladdin stamps its name on the burner windscreen, and Prentiss-Wabers prints "PW", but for the Coleman we get "C-A". There has been much speculation as to why the "A" is there, and we only know it iss Coleman based on the box (the C.M. Mfg. Co. on the bottom of the utility cup stands for Crunden-Martin Mfg. Co., (St. Louis, Missouri)). One theory is that the stove was made in partnership with Aladdin.
This stove was found in unfired condition with often missing original box, decal, wooden tip cleaner knob, wrench, "F cups" canister, and is featured on Terry Marsh's website.

Nice stove Carlton. I like the Coleman - Aladdin partnership. It was wartime, and lots of companies were building things that were not part of their regular line.

What's the back-story? Was it just sitting in a basement somewhere waiting to be found?

Your stove is a special piece of history. To find the complete packaging with an unfired stove in it…well, that’s special. Good for you!

I've had this for a while. Got it at an antiques store.
Noticed there was not a 528 in the Gallery so thought I'd submit mine.
