Coleman 202 fount stamp / year

#1

Post by hansblix1 »

Thank you for your assistance. I've got a 202 with a stamped letter "B" on the fount bottom, but no other stamp. Does anyone know what 'B' designates? How do you know the date/month of manufacture?

Thanks.

I always assumed it meant "brass". But don't know that for certain. Is there a date stamp at the bottom of the side stamp?

Look on the side under the Coleman stamp for the dates. Started in 1958 in Toronto. And B does = brass.

Very helpful, thank you.

Got the dates - they were just faintly stamped and difficult to make out. '61 for year, but can't quite make out month. I'll clean it up and see. "B" for brass on the bottom.

Thank you again to all.

At this point in life I typically need to take a picture then zoom in too.
Or I send an image of an "undated" bottom then a collector immediately sees the date. 😅
Thank you!
