Can you help identify this model?

#1

Post by Taf786 »

Hi everyone. I’m new to the forum. I have obtained the attached lantern and hope anyone can help identify the model. Need to replace the burner on the inside due to corrosion
Thank you in advance

There are more here much more versed than I, but that looks like and old yard light that ran on natural gas.

Thanks for your reply. It uses LPG (cooking gas - primarily propane) can you recommend the correct Mantle for this? Or can anyone work?

I don't know what model that light is, either, Abdool, but being a single burner, you might try a Peerless 24-A.

I couldnt say for sure, but that really looks like an early (brass knob) Primus, or Century. Looks like it may be missing the top vent, too :(
It has no markings at all? check around the base, and even inside on the bottom, under the burner.

Early Primus for sure! Not sure if the tank connector will fit a modern tank so it will have to be adapted with that extension piece. Most of the earlier tanks valves had vertical ports unlike the modern ones that are horizontal now..Russ

Does that thing hang down from the ceiling? If you tie a mantle onto it, it will just flop over to one side if the lamp was vertical off a LP bottle..?
Ken.

In Trinidad the standard tanks are vertical valves so it’s a direct fit

It mounts direct to the tank and stands upright… vertical valve on the tank. I was concerned with the mantle too… you seem to have to tie it into the stem and not flops over the top…
Waiting on the mantle to try it
