Air-O Filler Plug Gasket
I recently ordered and received my Buna gaskets from OCP and was wondering if I’m supposed to leave the old lead in the plug and just slide the gasket over the lead?
If that is the case, I’d only hand tighten the filler plug? I tried searching through the forum and couldn’t find anything. It seems like I remember seeing several posts on this topic before the switchover . No complaints from me on the switchover. I’m either not searching the site correctly or any previous information on this subject got lost.

Re: Air-O Filler Plug Gasket
I'm not familiar with OCPs gaskets for the 327 style filler caps. But I personally have always left the lead gasket and used a fuel resistant o-ring on top of it. That way you can tighten the filler by hand and if wanted it could be removed to be all original as well.

Re: Air-O Filler Plug Gasket
Thank you for the information Toby. I’ll leave the lead in the plug and will see how the Buna gasket performs versus the viton o-ring.Tgarner01 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:59 am I'm not familiar with OCPs gaskets for the 327 style filler caps. Steve, when you mention cleaned lead, I’m assuming you mean the lead being fully removed from the plug? I have two Air-O’s and can try what Toby mentioned and what you are suggesting if I am understanding you correctly.SteveRetherford wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:30 pm this is the one you want here , slap it over the cleaned lead , now finger tight is all ya need ..... im out and need a bunch of these myself .

NO , just cleaned off real good till nice n shiney with a little wool , then slap this right on top . this size gasket fits n stayes on the plug real good . i have put in new lead gaslets , replaced the lead with buna n ..... this is by far the bestest easiest way to go IMHO dont make more work than you really need to .

Re: Air-O Filler Plug Gasket
Use the 118 cap gasket. Iirc. Can put on finger tight like normal cap.

Re: Air-O Filler Plug Gasket
@SteveRetherford
I used the gasket you recommended and it’s performing nicely
@Tgarner01
I’m hoping to get to my other Air-O shortly. I believe I have the correct fuel resistant o-ring on hand.

Industry # 110 o-ring is the size you want.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.
