Need 290 lantern part
Hello Everyone,
I've been working on my 290 and I'm in need of a valve assembly 290A6571. Is the 290 an odd model for Coleman because I'm seeing that parts are not as easy to get for this model.

What's wrong with your current valve?

What John says.
These valves rarely need replacement unless they are physically unable to do the job from banging around or heavy service.
Usually a new fuel feed tube and maybe eccentric is all you need for the valve and maybe a little tightening of the packing nut if the fuel knob spins a bit freely.
BTW, generators, burner assembly's, fuel caps, fuel feed tubes, eccentrics, Schrader valves, and pumps can all be purchased new for this model from our sponsor, Old Coleman Parts.

Mike may not have the packing itself at the moment, but he has the ribbon which you can add to your existing packing. I suppose you could use the ribbon for the packing itself if need be, but haven't personally tried that.

Re: Need 290 lantern part
I use the ribbon graphite packing on almost every GPA when they need it.
I have maybe a half dozen 'factory' size Coleman graphite packings (200 and 220 size) but the one's that seem to need it most are the odd-ball lanterns like Akron's, AGM's, and an occasional Kamplite.
