Fuel Cap Gasket ...
Does anyone know the fuel cap gasket number for a 1972 200A 1 piece cap? Thanks.

Ocp. Old Coleman parts website
My friends don’t call me “Lantern/lampie Levi” for nothin’,if they did call me that.
Looking for bday lanterns 8/38, 8/41,
10/25, and 8/07
The biggest lie I tell myself is ”I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.”

I suggest you buy more than you think you'll need of both the 1-piece as well as the 3-piece. They will get used.

I destroyed one learning how to install it, and it seemed the Factory recommended just replacing the whole cap if it leaked. Those of us who can't bear to throw away an otherwise serviceable part will go through the effort to refurbish, which means having a few on-hand for when they're needed.
My technique involves oiling the new gasket and the stub on which it mounts, then using a socket of the appropriate diameter to force the gasket into place with the use of a bench vice and a patch of leather to protect the fuel cap. It's a slow process of cramming the gasket into place, but it does work well. If you can get it started by hand using a wooden dowel, that works well, too - but I found the vice technique to be less fussy.
Not oiling the pieces will result in you learning by destroying the first one.

I've replaced several one piece gaskets and haven't had any get damaged. I start it with a fingernail and then use the screwdriver blade on a tiny Victorinox pocket knife, which allows you to be precise when pushing down. The screwdriver blade is dull enough not to cause damage, especially since you're only pushing down at the edges. I do like the idea of a drop of oil though and may have to try that.

That is odd as heck, OCP had them at the time. It would be like McDonalds running out of hamburgers.

That is exactly how I feel right now. I am out of so many things that I vowed to never run out of. I hope to be getting some in next week. All I can tell you is that it is not my fault. I will give you one example. I was out of 200A globes. Finally got them in. I had 500 and they lasted less than a week. So I am back to waiting again. Almost all of them went to Japan. It has been like that for almost every product. Things are flying out the door faster than I can get them. Not sure what is going on. Maybe everyone is planning for the apocalypse.
