Lantern Reflector
Lantern Reflector
Has anyone used or thought about making a reflector from a light that clamps to a work space one of the round round ones you can get at Walmart ot lowed and cut the top out and bottom off and polish?
Re: Lantern Reflector
Not sure what kind of lamp you are talking about. Got a picture?

Re: Lantern Reflector
Are you talking about a "reflector" that reflects the light out horizontally, or a "shade" that reflects the light downward?
Re: Lantern Reflector

Re: Lantern Reflector
That might help to make a big hat vent, but I can't imagine using it for a reflector. I have used tin snips to make reflectors out of empty CF cans.

Re: Lantern Reflector
In a pinch you can make a reflector out of some heavy duty tinfoil. Just wrap it around the outside of the globe. Or cut one out of a piece of scrap metal. Jim's idea is a great one - the inside of those cans are already shinny and thin enough to easily bend into whatever shape you want.

Re: Lantern Reflector
Made this as a copy of the military shade. It’s aluminum flashing cut to shape and put together with pop rivets. Had to re-do the top rivets as they rub on the lantern vent. I will change the location of the next one I make
Also posted in the other post is a universal fit reflector made from the wood ends of a small cable spool and the same flashing. Works with almost any, including wickies.
