Generator issues on a 129 lamp

A couple of weeks ago I acquired a Coleman lamp, dated June 1935. After a bit of research and perusing Terry Marsh's photo montage, I figured to have a Coleman 129 based on the remaining paint on the handle and ordered the commensurate replacement decal after polishing up the fount.

I still have the generator that it came with it (gummed up; a project for another day), and noticed that a standard 220 replacement generator fits perfectly on this lamp.

Problem: A CF generator on a kerosene lamp works, but tends to be messy (hence the soot on the globe).

Question:
1. What is the proper generator for this lamp, and is it still available without undergoing master-class fettling?
2. If I decide to fettle said replacement generator to work with kerosene, what is the best procedure for making this generator work properly?
3. If relegated to using the generator I installed "as is," how does this lamp perform using good ol' Coleman Fuel (with the replacement 220 generator)?

I run Coleman fuel just fine in mine, seems a little brighter on kero, but white gas preheats much faster.

Take the tip off the old genny and put it on the new.

I hadn't even though about just changing out the tip. Too easy! Thank you, Keith.

Also, good to hear it'll work fine on CF. I really don't much care for the smell of kero; while the CF smell is more akin to memories of camping. Toby, I really like that shade!

BTW if memory serves me correctly the T44K shares the same gas orfice as a standard 220 gen (.008) so swapping it should make no difference. See if they're both stamp with a V

Get an R55 generator. OCP has them. It has the tip cleaner built in. The problem using a 220 generator on lamps is there is no way to clean the fuel tip without taking the generator out. I have not tried running Kero on mine, but works great on CF with the R55.

You can’t swap a R55 on a lamp that uses t44k generator (t44k same size as the t44 (220e5891)
